The Honda Civic Type R dazzles the Paris Motor Show

We were not certain that the new-generation Honda Civic Type R would be at the Paris Motor Show yesterday, Honda not having confirmed anything in recent weeks. Well, the new Type R was indeed present, and the photos you see below confirm just how spectacular it is.

The Honda Civic Type R Destined for Canada

The first thing one notices about the new Honda Civic Type R is its oversized spoiler. Then the 20-inch wheels garner our attention, as does the center-mounted triple exhaust on the rear bumper. The lines of the Civic Type R concept unveiled yesterday are aggressive and ensure we recognize the sportiest model in the Civic range immediately. The Type R also stands out with touches of red everywhere, for example on the front bumper or in the Honda logos on the car.

Specifications rarely accompany the unveiling of a concept vehicle at an auto show, and the Honda Civic Type R is no exception to the rule.

Therefore, we do not know which engine will be found under the hood of the beast, but rumors say it will be the same four-cylinder 2.0-liter turbo that powers the current generation of the Honda Civic Type R. Offering 310 horsepower in its current version, the power could increase to 350 horsepower in the new Type R that will follow the unveiling of the prototype yesterday in Paris. A six-speed manual gearbox will send power to the front wheels.

Honda confirmed in June 2015 the arrival of the Honda Civic Type R in Canada. Now we have to wait and see if it will be the generation currently sold in Europe, or the production version of the concept shown in Paris that will make its way onto the European market in 2017. What is certain is that no matter the model, the Honda Civic Type R will be powerful, and noticeable everywhere it goes.
